My Yoga

When I was 13 years old, I did one of the smartest things for myself: I learned how to do yoga. I was surrounded by negativity, lacked a support system, and certainly wasn't being taught how to succeed in life. Yoga gave me something that no one else did. It gave me confidence. Not just confidence to speak up for myself, but confidence to take control of my life, by choosing to do things differently than the people around me.

I grew up surrounded by people who were experiencing and dealing with their own traumas and having no idea how to save me from mine. I knew I had to change the cycle of negative thoughts and behaviors in my life or else I was doomed to be an unhappy, unhealthy, and unsuccessful person like so many people around me were.  Yoga taught me I could achieve all the goals I set for myself.

For nearly 30 years, I've turned to yoga. The lessons yoga taught me at 13 stuck with me. Yoga, in all its forms, is about "self-care". When my world was so noisy from all the confusion and chaos during hard times, yoga taught me to create my own peace and quiet. Yoga taught me to persevere through difficulties by staying focused and to breathe.

Yoga shows us that everything in life is connected. It teaches us to let go of what's holding us back. And most of all, it gives us the life we deserve to live. I teach people more than just how to safely put their bodies into different positions. I use yoga to teach people how to be confident so they can create long-lasting, positive changes for the happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives they want to live.
